I’m reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It’s just OK so far. I’m hoping it gets better because the book is soooooo long. I chose it because the movie is coming out this month and I loved the Twilight books so I thought I’d like this one. I’m actually glad I saw the movie preview before I started reading or I might be more confused. Having both the host’s thoughts and Melanie’s memories mixed together is weird but I am curious to see where the story goes.

I am reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. It is required reading for my children’s literature class. I’m supposed to have it finished in five hours, but that’s not happening… I wasn’t excited about it but after reading the first chapter I think it will be good! It’s funny and there is certainly some mystery.

I’m reading Prodigy by Marie Lu. I said I needed a break from YA dystopian novels but this one just came out so… I am enjoying it. I really like the part I read last night. It explained the disaster that occurred that caused the world to change and what the world looks like now. That was really interesting.

I am reading Hollywood by Charles Bukowski. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it (I’ve heard great and horrible things about Bukowski) but it’s pretty good so far. But I have to say while reading it I am imagining Hank Moody from Californication! There are a lot of similarities so I’m pretty sure Moody’s character is indeed based on Bukowski/his literary alter ego Hank Chinaski.

I am finally reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I am loving it so far; started last night and had a hard time putting it down. I read the first book in the trilogy, Divergent, months ago but had to wait for this one on the holds list at the library for awhile. The only thing I’m not liking is that I forgot a lot about the first book by now!

I am still reading The Year of Living Biblically but I also started reading Where’s You Go, Bernadette? So far I like it; there is a mystery involved and it’s interestingly written through a series of emails and other correspondence. I won it in a giveaway a few months ago and I keep reading that it was one of the best books of 2012. We’ll see; I’m not hooked yet!

I am reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I had this on hold at the library forever and was so excited to finally get it! I have heard so many great things. Which unfortunately, usually makes me like the book less (same with movies). I just get so hyped up about it and have ridiculously high expectations. So far it’s good but not great. I like the mystery but I can’t decide whether I like Nick or Amy and I usually end up not liking a book if I don’t like the characters. We’ll see!
